Why Storybook Pastures Began…
When I was growing up, I wanted a horse more than anything. I dreamed of having animals and a little ranch of my own. My parents would always tell me, “When you grow up, you can have all the animals you want.” I was their little girl with the biggest love for animals.
I never let go of that dream — and now I have “my” Acres of Joy Ranch.
Today, Acres of Joy Ranch is filled with animals I love deeply. More than that, it’s a place where others can come experience them. My wish is to share the joy these animals bring with others who feel that same love for them, but don’t have a place like this of their own — mini horses, mini Highland cows, alpacas, cuddly Valais Blacknose sheep, chickens, and acres of peaceful pasture.
Over and over again, people tell me, “You’re living my dream,” and I understand exactly what they mean.
Storybook Pastures was created for those people —
for the child who dreams of a horse,
for the adult who never got the chance,
and for anyone who feels that pull toward animals and the peace they bring with them.
Through Acres of Joy Ranch, I have the privilege of sharing a little piece of that dream with others.
Meet Clay - Our First Story
Clay is fifteen years old and quite the little fella. He does not demand the spotlight, but instead lets you come to him in his own quiet way.
Sweet by nature but a little sassy when food is involved, Clay has a gentle steadiness that makes him easy to love. He is one of ours, and we're grateful for him every single day.

Clay’s Story Circle
For those who feel drawn to Clay’s gentle spirit, Clay’s Story Circle offers a meaningful way to stay connected to him and to life at Acres of Joy Ranch.
Over the course of six months, members can look forward to a welcome note, occasional photos and stories from the pasture, and one opportunity to visit the ranch and see Clay in person.
This is not about ownership -- it is about connection, quiet joy, and being part of something gentle and real.
